about us

At Community of Hope, our mission is to meet the physical needs of families in the River Region (as outlined in Matthew 25:35-40) by fostering positive relationships through encouragement and prayer. Through our food and clothes ministries, we help meet specific needs by giving to families that don’t have resources to buy these items. We also have a furniture ministry that gives furniture to families that do not have the basic household furnishings.

The individuals we serve want to know someone cares about their circumstances and needs. As families share their stories, we are often able to pray with them and share H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Prepare for Eternity) through God’s love. Our desire is for the families we serve to know there is H.O.P.E. for every situation they face, and it’s found in a relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior!

Community of Hope was incorporated in 2002, and Lou Ann Raughton joined as Executive Director in 2007. Under her leadership, the ministry expanded from a simple food pantry to add a clothes ministry. In 2022, she had a shower installed in the men’s bathroom so individuals without access could come and get a warm shower. She often says we are “blessed to be a blessing.” Undoubtedly, praying for those she crosses paths with is the highlight of her day.
